Grom unpacked, going to paint the raised spokes gold to imitate a look like mtechnica wheels or old turbofan style.

That looks great. What did you use to paint it? I just did the wing and front bumper on my E-Revo with spray paint but it's already flaking off...

Some acrylic paint pens, I have my doubts on how long it will last.

I'm pretty bad about keeping these re releases in the box or on the display shelf. :anonymous: My Tekno MT410 is the only one that gets any run time. I need to pick up another runner to build. Maybe a T6.4. :notsure:

I've gotten farther and farther into the RC drifting rabbit hole, picked up a 2nd chassis last weekend and am hoping to try it out tomorrow! Bought a Reve'd RDX (white car) to go with the Reve'd MC1 (Toyota Chaser):

Also have been tinkering with 1/18 crawlers, picked up a Redcat Ascent 1/18 and an Injora trailer that I will pull with my FMS LC80:

The drifting looks fun. You go somewhere to do it or just run in your house?

I ordered an Ascent 1/18 when they were on sale at the opening price and they're still backordered. Hoping to get it by the end of the summer... meanwhile my FCX24 needs gears to run, dead and unusable as is. How do you like the FMC LC80?

The drift stuff I go to different tracks, there are 3–4 around here all within a few hours I can go to. They’re a bit too big to run indoors, though I’m building a 4th one as a driveway drifter so I can have fun at home.

The Ascent is great, especially at the $99 price point. I bought it from Amain as soon as it was released and was lucky enough to get one in the first batch. I’m super impressed with the Ascent. So far I’ve done the Injora IR40 body (have to keep it Toyota themed!) and designed and printed the mounts and bumper for it since the IR40 is a TRX4M body, as well as 1.3 wheels and tires and a Furitek Lizard Pro ESC and outrunner. No weights or suspension mods other than removing the springs and it seems like it performs great!

The LC80 is OK, the FCX18/24 is a very cool platform and great for trailing since its got the 2 speed, but I hate working on it. It’s so crammed in with how big the transmission is and I dont like that the body is screwed on. I’m going to mess around with it as a trail and tow rig instead of any real hard crawling since the body is also somewhat fragile (I already broke the hood which is why its got a grey hood now).

Which gears did you break in your FCX24? I’m still running the stock plastic transmission gears but got the Treal lockers in the diffs. The Ascent has metal transmission gears stock, too, which is awesome.

Also printed a bed and interior for the IR40/Ascent:

It looks killer with the IR40 body. I have it on my TRX4M. Somehow it looks better on the Redcat... you willing to print me one of those beds? Love how that looks! Better than any of the options on Amazon/Etsy.

Agreed on the FCX platform. The 2-speed is a game changer as far as smaller scale rigs go, or at least my experience with them, but working on it is a PITA.

I broke the rear diff gears in mine. Not "broke" per se, but somehow wore them down to the point that they no longer turn the axle shafts. Been eyeing the Treal kit but $50 for front/rear is hefty.

The bed is this one from Thingiverse:

    https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6467636

I did modify it to get rid of the lip on the front, and also added 4 holes for the zip ties so I wouldnt have to tape or glue it down, and also added the holes for the shock towers since the Thingiverse one is for the TRX4M. I also added a few zip tie mounts on the underside to zip tie the wires to so they dont get pinched by the towers.

Send me a PM if you want the one I made, though it’s for the Redcat. The one on Thingiverse would work better for your TRX4M.

Also, yeah, spending $60+ on the Treal diffs was painful. I kind of wish I didn’t since the truck doesnt get much use otherwise and the Treal ones are way overbuilt for simple trailing. However, Injora just came out with some I think yesterday or the day before:

    https://www.injora.com/products/inj...rs-for-fms-fcx24-fcx18?variant=48614258540831

$23 for both sets and you can get overdrive if you want as well.

Might take you up on that. Doesn't sound like the modifications are that bad?

Good catch on the Injora parts! I had that open and somehow lost the tab but did see it and totally forgot. Thoughts on overdrive?

I modified the file in CAD so its all done and printable, just saying its to fit a Redcat chassis and the holes arent really needed for a TRX4M chassis, so just lmk which version you’d want.

Also I like overdrive but feel like it’s not needed on my LC80 at least because the hard body and high COG hurt its crawling ability more than overdrive so I skipped it on this one. I might get it for the Ascent if Injora comes out with some metal lockers for it.

Gotcha. Alright I'll probably go without overdrive then, I already had this high-speed FMS motor for it which is just silly.

& only a matter of time before Injora starts cranking out parts for the 1/18 Ascent.

Yeah, Injora has been cranking out a lot of parts lately! They just released some metal links for the Ascent. I’m hoping they come out with some brass ones soon (though I might go with the stainless steel ones for looks). I’m also hoping they’ll release some new axles and brass in the titanium color before I throw more mods on it.

These things are worse than the full-size trucks. "Just one more small mod," he says, for the tenth time hahaha.

I absolutely love these Injora wheels for the 1/10 scale rigs but can't pull the trigger just yet until my C2X needs tires to go with it
    https://www.injora.com/products/inj...0-rc-crawler-4-w1955-1?variant=48548240982303

Going with the Injora metal diffs and metal driveshafts to hopefully get the FCX24 functional again. And some 45mm shocks, because why the hell not.

The FMS is a mixed bag for me, it has crawled reasonably well but has been plagued by reliability issues.

First was rear diff - swapped out to metal. Metal ones were kind of garbage so I did metal pinion with the plastic diff - so far so good. The front diff went out a couple runs after fixing the rear - same setup now, which is metal pinion with plastic diff. The plastic pinion split and was basically spreading the teeth at the split so I would get skipping. So the diffs were finally sorted (for now) and the first run after the diffs fixed the transmission gears stripped. Installed metal trans gears - seems fine but a bit noisy. All said and done it’s still a fun truck.

Bonus pics of my nephews rcawd wheels with pataguccis. :D

Those wheels are... a lot. Haha. How's the RCAWD stuff?

Free time is almost nonexistent here so I'm just going to do the metal transmission gears at the same time as the metal driveshafts and diffs. Have some heavy wheels/tires on this thing so hoping the metal parts prevent any future issues on the driveline front. Also doing a Rampcrab servo and links to help with the weight... and suddenly it's a full build.

Here's the best picture I have of it from before disassembly commenced:
