That’s why I went with the Ironman Foam Cell Pro kit.
I did read a few negative reviews and hear from a few people they didn’t like the Kendas but you see bad reviews and experiences for everything if you read enough.

I do still really want 35s but if I end up getting something new in a few years, 16” wheels won’t fit on the Tacoma or probably 4Runner. There is probably a smaller market to buy 35s as compared to 285/75/16s.

If you can afford a GX, $.40 extra for Premium shouldn’t be a problem. I wouldn’t want to run bottom barrel fuel in an $80k truck either way. I mean what are we talking… $12 difference on a full fill up?

My truck has never had anything below Mid grade in it… shoot, the boat down to the yard equipment gets Mid as well.

Id love a GX for the wife… just not the payment for our bank account

This is true! We certainly can’t afford $80K either. We would likely wait a couple years and try to find a used one since they don’t hold their value as well as 4 Runners and Land Cruisers. The cost of basically any new vehicle besides a compact sedan is out of our price range at the moment :pout:

I think they are more than 80 grand could just be prices I’m seeing with market adjustment.
I think we are going to be a one car family soon. Pretty much retired so the 2015 pro may be for sale soon.

Wow, over $80K is insane. I haven’t priced any yet but that wouldn’t surprise me. I did discover that the new ones are premium fuel like the old version so that’s a no go anyway.

Morning MD. I saw a 24 TRD at Joppa and 152 on my way home from work and I have to admit it looked good. Not good enough that I want to trade mine in but a lot better than the first SR5's I saw.

    Morning all.

@Backdoc I agree, I’ve seen a few in person now and they look really nice once those chin straps are removed. I think they did a good job with the design.

I like the way they look too. It’s a shame I can’t get all the things I like in a single model for under 65k.

I like the heads up display that’s on the limited and higher, the locking rear diff on the off road, trail hunter and pro and the scooped hood of the sport and pro.

if the limited had the sport hood, I would consider getting that trim or the HUD on the off road.

Then again, maybe I’ll change direction and get a 4R. I only use the bed for larger truck things in the bed. I could probably fit what’s in the bed now in the back of a 4R.

Or, most likely, keep my 3rd gen and dream about a 4th gen Tacoma or 6th gen 4R :anonymous:

gotta have opposable thumbs for that.

Storytime! I met Ray Lewis at a party in December 2012 at the end of his time on the injury list. I shook his hand and told him to feel better. Several weeks later he returned and we won the Super Bowl. You're welcome. :humble:

Cooper STMaxx update. I thought I would give a quick update on my experience with these Coopers. I am a few hundred miles shy of 40K miles on the tires. These are 235/85/16's on stock SR5 wheels. I took a picture of each one to show the tread wear. I am at my office so I don't have a tread depth gauge on me but I can tell you there is plenty of tread left. Pretty even wear for the most part. I have been happy with how they handle. Most of the driving has been on road with a few miles at most off road. I have not had these in sand, just mud, dirt and rock. After some forum reading, tinkering with chalk (which I am pretty sure didn't help me at all because I didn't know what I was doing) and just gut feel I have landed at 40 psi cold for the front and 34 psi cold for the rear. I have rotated these in an X pattern every 5-6K miles. At this point I would say they are relatively quiet with a little hum at certain speeds. They have handled very well on wet roads. I have had limited exposure to snow with the mild winters we have had but have had them in the snow on roads in Harford County and they have performed well. I really cant think of anything bad to say about them other than there is a slight pull to the right no matter what I do. I had one front alignment after install and again when I put my Bilstein kit on. I probably have a couple more years of tread life left on them but I may not hold out that long as I really want to put 33's on. I would rate these as an A- purchase and although I say that I may not purchase them again when I replace them. No particular reason, just may try something different. Long useless post over. Good day Maryland.

    Nice write up!

Since I put mine back on, I went up to 40psi all around. Unfortunately my experience which is operator error and I should have caught it, made mine wear really unevenly.

one negative now for those is cost lol. If you like the 255/85/16 33s, the new falken is offered in that size. I’m not sure how well 285/75s without cutting or different wheels will work for you.
