I used Heat Resistant spray paint from Advanced Autoparts. I removed the drum, sanded it with various grits (180, 220 etc.) of sandpaper and wiped it all down with mineral spirits to clean it prior to spraying. Holding up perfectly. No chiping and still looks like the day I applied it. I've done this with other vehicles in the past and have never had any problem with chipping/peeling (if sanded/cleaned well prior to painting). And I covers great with just one coat and heat hasn't been a problem.
